The celebration of the achievements of the 11th grade class –reaching Matura---was begun by director Mr. Twardowsky eleven years ago.  Pan Director suggested that the students in the graduating class should march down the hall escorted by the children in the kindergarten class, accompanied by the ringing of a school bell.  All of the other students and parents would applaud the students for having reached the end of their Ukrainian school academic program.

The Last Bell ceremony at Ridna Shkola reached a milestone this year.  These are the students, eleven years ago, who walked the graduating class down the hall for the first time.

These are the students, small children, just beginning their education about their Ukrainian heritage.  Before them stood the opportunity to learn about the glories of the days of the hetmans and kozaks, the poems and stories of Shevchenko, Franko, and Lesia Ukrainka, the music, art, architecture and geography (and even learning about Dazhboh).   Friendships were formed as the years passed.  These students will share stories with their Ukrainian friends in other cities about their experiences in Ukrainian School years from now.  We wish them all the best – not just in writing their tests during Matura, but throughout their lives.  Congratulations!

Best wishes to Mykhas, Mychaijlo, Anya, Danylo, Adriana, Adi, Riley, Stefan, Lesia, Mira, Yulia, Lilia, Vesniana, Susanna, Solomia, Iryna, Natalia, Yaryna and Yevhen.
